Biography: Brees was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1979. His father, Eugene Wilson "Chip" Brees II, was a prominent trial lawyer; his mother, an attorney.

His parents, who divorced when he was seven, both also had athletic backgrounds: his father playing basketball for Texas A&M University, and his mother an all-state in three sports during high school. Brees' wider family also included college football quarterbacks and coaches.

For college, Brees picked Purdue university where he played for the Boilermakers as offensive captain. While his freshman year went by without much notice, since then his football career has found its feet and he has been involved in a number of memorable games—as against Ohio State with the Boilermakers, in which he made four interceptions and a 64-yard touchdown pass.

Brees entered the NFL with the San Diego Chargers, where he played as quarterback from 2001 to 2005. In 2006, Brees signed a six-year $60 million deal with the New Orleans Saints.

Since then he has made good on this as their quarterback, setting records for touchdowns and passing yards. He holds an enormous number of records and is widely regarded as one of the all-time greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
