Biography: Micky Dolenz is an American actor and musician, best known as drummer and vocalist for the Monkees. He also starred in the television series The Monkees (1966-1968) which was the original inspiration for the band.

The Monkees was a sitcom in which a fictional band, comprised of David Jones, Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork, chase success. This eventually gave rise to the actual band, of which Dolenz is now the last surviving member.

When Dolenz was first case on the series, he did not know at all how to drum and it was necessary to teach him at least to mime credibly. He eventually learned to drum and played properly when the band toured in 1966.
